What is an F-1 Visa?

The F1 visa is a non-immigrant student visa that permits foreigners to study in the United States. It is required for anyone who wants to become an international student in the U.S. The process of getting an F1 visa through the U.S. embassy in your home country is usually simple and quick.

How to apply for an
F-1 Visa in your home country.

1. Enroll with us

This is the moment you will fill out your paperwork, send us the documentation, and pay Enrollment fees (non-refundable).

2. Be Accepted at CLI

In this step, you will receive the I-20, and acceptance letter from our DSO Department.

3. Pay Government Fees

Click on the buttons below to make the payments for each fee on the official websites. Reminder: Make all fee payments at least three days prior to your VISA interview.

4. Get ready for your interview

you must schedule your VISA interview at the nearest U.S. consulate in your country of residence.

5. VISA Approval

After your F1 VISA is approved by the US consulate or US embassy, please contact our school to inform of your travel plans and arrival date.
Reminder: Students MAY ONLY travel to the United States THIRTY (30) days before the program start date on your I-20.

Begin taking classes with us on the date specified on your I-20 Form.

How to apply for an Transfer Process.

1. Apply to our school

This is the moment you will fill out your paperwork, and send us the documentation.

2. Notify your current school

You must inform your current school of your intent to transfer. In this step, your current school’s DSO will need to fill out the Transfer Form.

3. Pay Enrollment fees

After receiving all required documentation, you will pay the Enrollment fees (non-refundable).

4. Be Accepted

Congratulations! Now you will receive your Acceptance Letter from CLI.

Reminder: Don’t forget to send the Acceptance Letter to your current school.

5. Receive your new I-20 form

Once we receive your SEVIS record, our DSO Department will issue a new I-20 form, and will send it to you within 24 to 48 hours.

How to apply for an Change of Status.

1. Apply to our school

This is the moment you will fill out your paperwork, send us the documentation, pay Enrollment fees (non-refundable), and tuition deposit.

2. Be Accepted at CLI

In this step, you will receive the I-20, and acceptance letter from our DSO Department.

3. Pay Government Fees

Click on the button below to make the payment for the I-901 (SEVIS Fee) on the official website.

4. Submit your Change of Status process

File form I-539 and submit it to USCIS (U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services).

Reminder: CLI DOES NOT file your change of status process for you. Some people file on their own, or as we recommend, hire legal assistance.

5. Receive the approval letter from USCIS*

When you receive the approval letter from USCIS, notify our school immediately.
We need to schedule the official start of your studies (within 30 days of approval). Before that you won’t start studying.

*Approval can take on average from 4 to 12 months to be received.
